Openlands Board Member Jill Allread

Jill serves as CEO for Public Communications Inc.  In this role, Jill leads the firm in providing strategic communications and marketing counsel to clients in the healthcare, nonprofit, civic, and conservation sectors. 

Prior to Public Communications, Jill was the Director of Public Affairs and Public Relations at Brookfield Zoo, and a Metro Editor of The Journal Gazette. 

Jill joined Openlands’ Board in 2004 and enjoys involvement in programs that support children and conservation. She served as Board Chair from 2008 to 2014. 

Jill is a founding board member of Girls in the Game, a nonprofit that supports young girls. She has also served as Commissioner and former Chair of the Illinois Nature Preserve Commission and has served on the board of the International Crane Foundation and the Public Relations Society of America. In 2021, Crain’s Chicago Business recognized Jill on their list of Notable Executives in Marketing. 

Jill lives in Oak Park. She received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Saint Mary of the Woods College.
