Sarah Surroz joined Openlands in 2018 as the Director of Lake County Programs, having helped to protect the quality of life in Lake County for over 25 years. She has played a key role in passing four Lake County open space referendums and helped to craft land use plans that now impact thousands of acres. Prior to joining Openlands, Sarah worked for Conserve Lake County, the Lake County Forest Preserve District, and the Lakes Management Unit of the Lake County Health Department.
Sarah’s work includes serving on the Advisory Committee of Lake County’s new Green Infrastructure Model and Strategy, which will guide and support regional, local and site planning by agencies, corporations and citizens.
