Paul supports Openlands as the Vice President of Finance and Administration where he oversees the accounting and administration functions and is responsible for all facets of Openlands’ financial operations. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory compliance, financial analysis, annual audit navigation, and fiscal policy development. He is a member of the Leadership Team, coordinates with budget managers across the organization and is the staff lead on the Finance Committee, Investment Committee, and Audit Committee of the Openlands Board of Directors. With over 23 years of accounting and operations experience, Paul delivers a high level of expertise in financial leadership and a wealth of knowledge in nonprofit management. Before joining Openlands in 2023, he worked for other nonprofit organizations such as Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities, Cabrini Green Legal Aid, The Global Foodbanking Network, and United 4 Children.
Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in operations management from Loyola University of Chicago. He also holds an associate’s degree in accounting and is a licensed CPA in the state of Illinois. Passionate about conserving the vast ecological treasures of our region, Paul is known for his deep engagement in the actual work on the ground, far beyond the numbers in a financial spreadsheet.
He enjoys hiking the forest preserves throughout the Chicago metro area with his dogs – especially at the Salt Creek Trail, along the Des Plaines River. He is a member of the AICPA and a proud volunteer in the Openlands TreeKeepers.
