Fundraise for Openlands

Turn Your Passion for Nature into Lasting Impact

Whether you’re running a race, celebrating a milestone, or rallying your community around a cause you care about, you can help protect the lands, waters, trees, and natural spaces that make our region healthier and more resilient.

Make a Difference Your Way

Every year, supporters across the region raise critical funds that help Openlands plant and care for trees, restore habitats, protect natural landscapes, and connect communities to nature.

By creating your own fundraiser, you become an advocate for conservation while inspiring friends, family, and colleagues to invest in a healthier future for our region.

No matter the occasion, your efforts help ensure that nature thrives for generations to come.

Charity Running

Run with Team Openlands and make every mile count.

Whether you’re training for a marathon, half-marathon, 10K, or neighborhood race, you can turn your personal goal into meaningful conservation impact. Team Openlands runners receive fundraising support, resources, and the opportunity to help protect nature across the Chicago region.

Members of Team Openlands receive:

  • An opportunity to help conserve nature for life
  • Guaranteed entry into the 2027 Bank of America Chicago Marathon (Entry cannot be deferred to 2028 or any other year)
  • Official Team Openlands running shirt
  • Personal fundraising page
  • E-Openlander newsletter

The fundraising minimums are set forth by the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and cannot be changed or lowered for any reason. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon does not allow transfers of charity entries for any reason. There is no charity-paid option and no invoicing for entries. Each participant will pay the entry fee at the time of registration; a 5.75% processing fee will be applied to all entry fees.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

Celebrate, honor, or inspire through a conservation-focused fundraiser.
Create a fundraising page for a birthday, wedding, memorial, holiday, workplace challenge, outdoor adventure, or any special occasion. Invite your network to support a cause you care about while helping Openlands expand tree canopy, restore habitats, and protect open space.

Every fundraiser—large or small—helps create a more resilient and sustainable future for our region.
