Tonatiu Rodriguez is the Community Arborist at Openlands, and works to facilitate the TreePlanters Grant and participates in the community outreach and education programs offered by Openlands. He had a career in the restaurant industry before joining Openlands’ Forestry Trainee Program in 2020, where he learned the fundamentals of tree biology and grew interested in municipal forestry. After the training program, he worked in private tree care and specialized in plant healthcare. Tonatiu Rodriguez is a product of Chicago Public Schools; he studied Environmental Science at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Tonatiu is a licensed pesticide applicator and TreeKeeper #1611.
