About Kankakee Sands Preserve
Located just south of Wilmington, this is one of Will County’s newer preserves that have been opened to the public. Restoration at Kankakee Sands is ongoing, as this preserve sits in a geologically-rare landscape formed thousands of years ago when a glacial lake covered the area.
