Gerardo Trujillo is the Landscaping Specialist at Openlands and works in Lake County for the Lands in Harmony program to support landscaping companies in joining the stewardship of our regional ecosystem. Gerardo served as a consulting forester for electrical utilities, developing programs and leading vegetation management teams to address the devastation wrought by the emerald ash borer. Prior to that his experience comes from utility forestry in California, leading post wildfire risk assessment on tree stands around powerlines. As well as supervising a regional fire risk reduction program for the electric utilities’ vegetation management department. His background also includes work with Davey Tree, Mariani Landscaping, Lake County Forest Preserve District, and his family’s farm in Mexico.
