George W. Davis

George Davis joined the Openlands board in 1984. Before retiring, George served as the Director of Telecommunications at Egon Zehnder International. George says of Openlands, “The organization is an effective advocate for regional open space.” Some of George’s favorite Openlands’ projects are TreeKeepers, the Urban Forestry Initiative, Openlands’ work on trails and waterways in the region, the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, and the Openlands Lakeshore Preserve. In addition to being a Treekeeper and a natural area steward for the Chicago Park District, George is a member of the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference Board and participates in Hyde Park’s Garden Fair and Used Book Sale. George enjoys running, cross-country skiing, gardening, and hiking.
