About Plum Creek Meadow

The Plum Creek Trail, located near Chicago Heights at Plum Creek Meadow (Burnham Ave, north of 223rd St) and managed by the Forest Preserves of Cook County, is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

Stretching 1.8 miles along unpaved paths, the trail offers a scenic escape for a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy hiking, walking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing. Dogs are welcome but must remain on-leash.

Amenities at Plum Creek Meadow include a parking lot, accessible indoor bathroom (open April 1–October 31), portable bathroom (open November 1–April 30), and convenient trail access. Two accessible picnic groves with shelters are available May 1–October 31, each with seating for up to 200 people.

With open meadows, wooded landscapes, and a designated drone flying area, Plum Creek Meadow provides space for both recreation and relaxation. The trail invites visitors to connect with nature in every season while exploring one of Cook County’s southern forest preserves.
