Molly Scallon supports Openlands as a Forestry Specialist, where she supports the TreeKeepers program, educating Chicago’s urban forest advocates and fostering connections between people and trees through stewardship and community building. With 13 years of experience in urban and community forestry, Molly brings expertise in community engagement, tree identification, and advocating for tree preservation and species diversity. Before joining Openlands, she worked at the City of Fort Collins in Colorado as a Senior Forestry Specialist, where she conducted development plan review, enforced municipal codes, and planned Arbor Day events. Molly holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Passionate about tree preservation and protection, Molly is known for her admiration of Champion Trees across the country.

Favorite Place to Get Outside- Molly enjoys practicing yoga, preferably under a giant tree, and playing backyard frisbee with her Australian Shepard Mix, Chloe.
