Laura Mueller 2024 Luncheon headshots

Laura Mueller is the Assistant Director of Development at Openlands and works with the development team to connect with all the stakeholders in our community to advance the mission of conserving nature for life.  To this role, Laura brings more than 15 years of successful fundraising and marketing experience working with a range of national and local nonprofit organizations. Laura is skilled in fundraising strategy, marketing communications, special events and board development. Laura also brings with her a passion for growing green spaces and real food; she was first introduced to Openlands when she partnered with Space to Grow to transform empty schoolyards into vibrant green spaces for kids to live, play, learn and grow. Laura has seen firsthand the transformative power of nature to enhance lives and improve long-term mental and physical health outcomes. When not tree keeping with Openlands, she can be found biking the lakeshore path to a farmers market.

Laura received two Master’s Degrees from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Integrated Marketing Communications and Journalism respectively and holds a BS in Journalism and from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has a certificate in Editing from the University of Chicago.
