Jean M. Franczyk is a board member for Openlands and an executive coach specializing in non-profit leadership. She is experienced non-profit chief executive, leading complex organizational mergers, redesigning operational teams, driving double-digit revenue growth, and managing large governing and philanthropic boards through opportunity and risk. She has held executive leadership positions in museums in both the U.S. and the U.K., and in government and education in the U.S. She views museums as modern-day public squares with the potential to bring people together across disciplines, boundaries, and disparities. Her passion – connecting people to the natural world – is driven by a core belief that people live happier, healthier lives when they connect with nature.

In the Chicago region, Jean led The Chicago Botanic Garden for ten years, one of the world’s largest and most visited botanic gardens. When she isn’t working, you might find her walking along Chicago’s lakefront, at a museum or the theater, or on the sofa with a good book.
