Gerardo supports Openlands as the Landscape Specialist, where he advances land management practices to restore ecological function and enhance biodiversity across the region. With 13 years of experience in vegetation management, Gerardo brings wild-land, agricultural, and urban interface expertise. Before joining Openlands, he worked for utility companies across the Country, where he pioneered wildfire prevention, storm reliability, and catastrophic event mitigation projects for vegetation on utility right of ways. Gerardo holds an Arborist Certification from The International Society of Arboriculture.
Passionate about restoring humanities link to land, Gerardo is known for letting you know you eventually turn to back to soil.
Favorite Place to Get Outside- he enjoys chasing the moon, full sun, and mesic-wet soil.
