Carlos supports Openlands as a Forestry Specialist, where he supervises, trains and works alongside the arborist registered apprentices. Before joining Openlands, he worked at Forest Preserves of Cook County, where he helped manage their Conservation Corps program, assisted in teaching about native and non-native plants, and land management practices. Passionate about improving our urban canopy, introducing more community members to nature and developing workforce training programs, Carlos is known for being approachable, and fostering accountability within the crew. Place to Get Outside- He enjoys going on hikes in the Palos Forest Preserves, and traveling to see new natural spaces.
