JoAnn is a Partner at Chicago Capital LLC, a wealth management firm.

JoAnn joined Openlands’ Board in 2014 and traces her love of nature to her upbringing in California, hiking, biking, and exploring the outdoors. When she moved to Illinois in the late 1980’s, she met Jerry Adelmann, Openlands President Emeritus, who gave her the opportunity to help on a planning task force for the Canal Corridor Associations, spurring her to recognize the crucial connection between nature and people. From there, she served on several conservation non-profit boards, which included leadership roles.

JoAnn is an active member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the International Women’s Forum. She currently serves on the board of  The Fortnightly of Chicago, is the immediate past chair of Openlands, and is a co-founder of Smartfarms.org. Crain’s Chicago Business recognized JoAnn as one of their Notable Nonprofit Board Leaders in 2022 for her work as Chair of Openlands.

JoAnn lives in the Gold Coast neighborhood. She holds a B.S. in Business from the University of Southern California, where she graduated magna cum laude.
