Maddie supports Openlands as a Land Preservation Attorney, where she cultivates, negotiates, and conducts land transactions to preserve and expand conservation efforts throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. With over 10 years of experience in conservation and law, Maddie brings expertise in natural resource protection, conservation easements, litigation, and policy work. Before joining Openlands, she worked at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, where she worked closely with government staff, utilities, and other advocacy groups to advance building energy codes and other building energy efficiency policies, including benchmarking ordinances and building performance standards. Maddie holds a degree in Environmental Studies and Biology from Denison University and a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law.

Favorite Place to Get Outside – Maddie loves getting out on prairies and other native grasslands and currently serves as the Vice President of the Missouri Prairie Foundation. She also enjoys camping and hiking with her family.
