About Deer Grove East

In 2018, the Forest Preserves of Cook County and Openlands opened a new interpretive trail in Deer Grove East, featuring elements that highlight core themes of nature: land, sky, and water. The four interpretive areas are installed along the preserve’s 2.8-mile paved trail, each offering seating and rest areas set away from the traffic of the main trail system.

This location also includes accessible picnic shelters, providing a welcoming space for visitors of all abilities to enjoy the outdoors. As part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Deer Grove East is maintained to support nature exploration, education, and inclusive recreation for all.
