November 18 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Join us on Saturday, November 18th, for a bird walk to celebrate 10 years of the Birds in My Neighborhood program. The Bird Walk will begin at 8 a.m., and coffee and snacks will be served after the walk around 10 a.m.

Birds in My Neighborhood® is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023. The program brings trained volunteers into elementary school classrooms for a student-led and inquiry-based exploration of birds. Volunteers return two more times for neighborhood and natural area field trips, challenging students to observe birds closely and what makes them unique. Together, they identify species, gain familiarity with their local wilderness, and recognize how biodiversity benefits our planet—planting seeds to make them future advocates for nature. Over the past decade and with upwards of 60 schools, the program has engaged more than 200 volunteers, 500 teachers, and 12,000 students with materials and training available in both English and Spanish.
