Palos Park Woods, part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County, is located near Palos Park and divided into two sections: Palos Park Woods-North (along Kean Avenue, south of Calumet Sag Road/Rte 83) and Palos Park Woods-South (along 119th Street, west of S 86th Avenue). Both areas are open daily from sunrise to sunset and provide trail access for hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and on-leash dog walking.
Visitors to each section will find different amenities:
Palos Park Woods-North includes parking, an accessible portable bathroom available year-round, and equestrian parking. It also features Accessible Grove #1, a sheltered picnic area with space for up to 300 people, open May through October. Distances to amenities are short, with parking located 120 feet from the grove and the accessible portable bathroom just 101 feet away.
Palos Park Woods-South offers parking and a portable bathroom available seasonally from May through October (weather permitting). The site also contains Grove #2, a picnic shelter with capacity for up to 200 people, making it a welcoming spot for gatherings during the warmer months.
