Linda Masters is the Restoration Specialist at Openlands, and has coordinated major ecological restoration projects at Bartel Grasslands, Orland Grassland, McMahon Fen, Camp Sagawa, Bergman Slough, Tinley Creek Wetlands, and Deer Grove, which cumulatively have invested $20 million in widely respected natural areas restoration initiatives. She joined the Openlands in 2000 after 13 years of conservation research, planning and project management with the Conservation Design Forum and the Morton Arboretum. Linda was a principal creator of the Floristic Quality Assessment computer program, a method of analyzing data for natural areas and restoration monitoring and conservation planning. Ms. Masters has provided coordination and leadership to a wide range of projects including the Great American Thismia Hunt (an initiative to draw attention to conservation needs in the Calumet area), Wild Things (a regional conservation conference), and the 4th Edition of Plants of the Chicago Region (as an assistant to Floyd Swink and Gerould Wilhelm). Linda holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois and a Masters of Science in Ecology and Evolution from University of Illinois at Chicago.
