Teaching environmental justice: Holding space for community conversations
February 17 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us on Saturday, February 17, from 10 am – 1 pm for our Teaching Environmental Justice: Holding Space for Community Conversations workshop at the Academy for Global Citizenship (4942 W 44th St, Chicago, IL 60638)
In this workshop we will cover a brief introduction to Environmental Justice and Environmental Racism. Participants can expect to practice and observe conversations about what Environmental Justice looks like in our respective communities.
We encourage everyone to bring a friend, colleague, or loved one and have them register as well. The goal is for folks to begin practicing with people in their own lives and to continue those conversations into the future.
Wearing a mask is not required, but highly encouraged as we work to create a safe and inclusive place for all.
This workshop will be facilitated by Ayesha Qazi-Lampert and Ylanda Wilhite. Ayesha is an AP Environmental Science Teacher at Chicago Public Schools and a UIC College of Education PhD student. Ylanda co-leads the Field Museum’s Youth and Family Centered Conservation community of practice via the establishment of regional partnerships, curriculum and professional development, and more. Ylanda has a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Lewis University.
Food will be provided and parking is available at the Academy for Global Citizenship. Register for the event at the following form.
