Openlands 60th Anniversary: Bilingual Tree Walk (En/Es)
July 15 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Nature is calling! Please join Openlands in celebrating its 60th anniversary for a bilingual tree walk at McKinley Park where we have a long history of tree stewardship. This outing will be led by experienced Openlands Forestry staff, broken into two groups for English and Spanish language tours. Please select your language preference in the ticket checkout.
We will discuss trees and their role in mitigating climate change, as well as Openlands’ priority to plant trees on Chicago’s Southwest Side. You will also hear about Openlands Forestry team’s history and how you can get involved. As an urban forestry leader in Chicago, Openlands has launched many programs including TreeKeepers, Arborist Registered Apprenticeship, and the TreePlanters Grant.
Our urban environment is teeming with life and there is no better way to discover what’s around us than to get outside. This event, suitable for all ages, is for people who want to explore nature on our front steps and feel empowered to take action to make Chicago a true city in a garden.
