a group of people riding in a boat on a river

On June 14th, learn about efforts to improve river quality and see the Major Taylor Bridge from the water with its mural illustrating the cycling career of the first African American international sports star. The event will be coordinated by Openlands, Forest Preserves of Cook County, and Wilderness Inquiry.

Registration for the event has two steps. First, please contact Jessica at the Forest Preserves of Cook County to register: 312-415-2970. Second, please complete the Wilderness Inquiry online registration form.

Getting there: enter Little Calumet Boat Launch, Blue Island into Google maps or Apple maps to navigate there. The entrance is on Forest View/Jackson/134th Street about 1 mile west of Halsted St and immediately east of Ashland in unincorporated Riverdale. Be aware that Ashland does not connect directly to Jackson. You need to use an unmarked connector street on the east side of Ashland just north of the underpass.
