Nora Hennessy

Nora Hennessy serves as Vice President for External Affairs and provides leadership of the strategic and coordinated efforts of development, communications, and media relations, in addition to engaging the Board of Directors through service and philanthropy. Nora joined Openlands in 2018 as the Vice President for Development. Prior to that, she spent seven years in alumni relations and development at the University of Chicago, most recently as the Associate Dean for the Division of the Humanities, where she was the chief development officer for a $140 million campaign to advance interdisciplinary innovations, faculty research, and student support. From 2011 to 2015, Nora served as the first Director of Major Gifts for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Nora received a Bachelors of Arts in Literature from Loyola University New Orleans, did graduate study at San Francisco State University, and completed executive education in the Center for Non-Profit Management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. In 2016, she was in the Executive Program for Emerging Leaders at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
