Nora Hennessy

Nora Hennessy is the Vice President of Development and works closely with the Board of Trustees and staff at Openlands to develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet annual and long-range organizational goals. Before joining Openlands in 2018, Nora managed a $140 million campaign to advance interdisciplinary innovations, faculty research, and student support as the Director of Development for the Humanities Division at the University of Chicago. From 2011 to 2015, she served as the first Director of Major Gifts at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Prior to moving to Chicago in 2008, Nora worked in institutional advancement for ten years in two of San Francisco’s leading independent schools. She received her BA from Loyola University New Orleans, did graduate work at San Francisco State and executive education in the business schools at Northwestern and University of Chicago. She enjoys gardening and spending time with her daughter.
