Molly Kordas is the Staff Attorney at Openlands and works with the land preservation team as well as local and regional policy teams to advocate for clean and vibrant waterways, common-sense solutions to the region’s transportation and planning challenges, wildlife protection, and green justice. Understanding that access to nature and a safe, healthful environment is essential to all people where they live, Molly believes in a holistic, equity-based approach to urban planning and conservation. Her most recent experiences include legal internships in the Environmental Bureau of the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, the Chicago-Kent Environmental Law Clinic, and Openlands. Prior to her legal work, Molly served on the staff of a Chicagoland-area state legislator, where she developed her interest in environmental and conservation law. Molly received the 2016 Justice John Paul Stevens Public Interest Summer Fellowship, was a 2018 Chicago-Kent Baum Fellow, and has been published in the Chicago-Kent Journal of Environmental and Energy Law. Molly holds a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Public Relations, and Spanish from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
