JoVaan was born and raised on the south side of Chicago in the Bronzeville area in the late 80s. He attended Kenwood Academy High School in Hyde Park. He’s a recent graduate of Greencorps Chicago where he learned various skill sets and gained numerous certifications within the Green Infrastructure field, primarily working in the inner city of Chicago. JoVaan took an interest in Urban Forestry when he was introduced to Openlands in the summer of 22’. Through his hard work and dedication he was selected to be apart of the ARA Apprenticeship here at Openlands
