Staff Accountant

The Position- Hybrid

The Staff Accountant performs a variety of general accounting duties relating to daily operations and the month-end closing. This position maintains, analyzes, and reconciles various accounts and records. This position reports to the Director of Accounting and is an exempt position. Our organization is working with a hybrid work environment with at least two days a week working remotely.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage online accounts payable platform including coding entries, integrating bank disbursements, and importing activity to the general ledger.
  • Import daily cash receipts, update general ledger for investment activity, reconcile bank statements
  • Update and review general ledger account analysis
  • Reconcile donor database to general ledger, update and reconcile cash flow spreadsheet to operating accounts
  • Record and reconcile budget amendments in Fund EZ accounting software
  • Prepare accounts receivable invoices
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, 1 – 3 years of experience
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of team
  • Ability to be flexible to in responding to financial tasks and assignments as they emerge
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, experience with Fund EZ accounting software a plus

Compensation:

Salary range is $50,000 – 60,000. Benefits include health, life, and disability coverage, a 403(b)-retirement plan, paid holidays, and vacation time.

Work Environment:

This position offers a hybrid work schedule with a combination of remote and works in our downtown Chicago office which is ADA accessible. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanners. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, see, and communicate effectively via computer. This role requires manual labor- standing, bending, crouching, lifting. Smoke- and drug-free environment
